Bob Priest, co-founder of True Awakening, began going to Africa on mission work in 2000. He was touched by the severe need of so many Africans in the midst of AIDS, droughts and famine. He has returned every year since then helping in innumerable ways.

On all of these trips we continued finding the same problems: lack of food, clothing, shelter, and drinking water in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. We began to try and solve some of these problems by digging wells for fresh water, raising money to buy food and clothes for the needy, primarily orphans.

However, when we saw the particular problem in Mwanza, Tanzania we were heartbroken. This is the 2nd largest city in Tanzania and it’s located on Lake Victoria. The streets have hundreds of abandoned children ranging in age from 2 to 18.
